At a Special Meeting held on December 23, 2014, Council took action to nominate a Signage Improvements Project and a Sewer Rehabilitation Project for funding consideration under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The Signage Improvements Project would include the installation of “Welcome to Eddystone” signage at Chester Pike/Eddystone Avenue; Chester Pike/Simpson Street; RTE 291/Chester City border; and RTE 291/Ridley Park border. Funding would also be requested to upgrade of the street blades to current standards and to install an electronic sign at Borough Hall to announce upcoming events.
The Sewer Rehabilitation Project would include the relining of six sanitary sewer mains and repair of twelve sanitary sewer manholes within the Borough limits. The relining project would eliminate infiltration of storm water into the sewer system and extend the service life of this infrastructure asset. Sewer rehabilitation has been a Borough priority for the past several years.
Project estimates and the funding application will be prepared by Catania Engineering and submitted to the Delaware County Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) by January 12, 2015. Funding eligibility will be determined in the Summer 2015. These projects will only move forward if funding is approved under the CDBG program.< Back
