Within the one square mile community of Eddystone, a multitude of services exist for residents. We believe that Eddystone is a GREAT place to live for the following reasons:
Eddystone is located within the Ridley School District, and as a result of its industrial partnerships within the community, residents have access to Ridley’s high-quality education at a very affordable tax rate.
Four churches call Eddystone home, providing religious devotions within walking distance.
Eddystone is conveniently located on the SEPTA Regional Rail Line (Wilmington-30th Street Station line), providing affordable access to Center City. SEPTA also runs two bus routes (37 and 114) through the community.
Trash is collected curbside twice per week with no additional fee to residents, something that is uncommon in Delaware County. Single-stream recycling is also collected curbside once per week. Recycling is a voluntary program, but all residents are encouraged to participate since the program not only offsets the cost of municipal waste disposal but also qualifies the Borough for numerous grant opportunities and protects the environment for future generations.
Eddystone staffs its own police department, providing continuous patrol of the neighborhood, all day, every day.
Eddystone is very proud of its volunteer fire department and ambulance service that has been active in our community since 1900.
The Borough’s Recreation Board hosts events throughout the year for the community’s youth and senior citizens. Sports are run seasonally for a nominal fee as well. Annual holiday events include the Memorial Day Parade, Easter Egg Hunt; Santa Toy Giveaway; and our Senior Holiday Lunch.
For your shopping needs, Eddystone is home to not only large retail establishments, but several corner stores and delis.
Through an agreement between the Borough and Community Transit, senior citizens can make arrangements for rides to medical appointments or shopping destinations in the Borough at a discounted rate.
